A visitors centre for the conservation area of Lumsdale falls and mills.

Derbyshire, UK

I designed a carefully considered visitors centre for the ruins and waterfalls at Lumsdale with sustainability at its core. Environmentally I ensured the site wall fully self sufficient in terms of power and water. Materials would be sourced locally to ensure minimal carbon footprint and maximum sense of identity and locality for the building. The design was also socially considered, enhancing the existing routes through the site, making minimal disturbance to the existing landscape. Included in the design were facilities for the community to socialise and educate themselves on the history of the site and their local environment to ensure protection of the area in future generations.
